About Interface Lab
Interface Lab is a Human–Machine Communication (HMC) research lab that examines what happens when humans and machines connect—not just technically, but relationally, emotionally, ethically, and socially. We are a lab from the School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University. Our focus is on studying how people communicate with, through, and around intelligent systems such as AI chatbots, virtual reality platforms, digital health tools, and algorithmic media. Rather than treating AI as a neutral tool, our work centers communication as the interface itself—where meaning, trust, care, power, and identity are negotiated.
